Skin care in your 20's
Your skin is always changing. Your skincare routine needs to be established in your 20’s as it will prevent from further damages in the future. It's easier to prevent longterm damages than to fix them afterwards. What's important is buying skincare products for the ingredients and formula that are included.
1. Cleanse: It is important to cleanse twice a day. Your daytime routine should be a light cleanse to remove all debris and night time shedding. Your night time routine should be a double cleanse. It can be a gel cleanser, milk, lotion, balm cleanser, oils or clay based cleanser. If you wear makeup and SPF you should double cleanse. Makeup and SPF is meant to stay on throughout the day so double cleansing removes them.
First cleanse: oils are great for removing makeup. Second cleanse: Its job is to ensure your skin is clean, balanced, comfortable and ready for everything else you'll apply later. Some skincare companies say you don’t need to cleanse in the morning but they are wrong. You need to remove your night time shedding and prevent excessive oil production.
2. Moisturize: you should choose your moisturizer depending on your skin type not your skin condition. Moisturizing protects your skin, reduces skin problems, it can help with overly dry, dehydrated skin or oiliness too. Hydrated skin is healthy skin. If your skin is too oily go for a hyaluronic acid serum or lightweight moisturizer as this helps lock in moisture.
3. Serums: I love a good kojic acid or vitamin C serum, it does wonders. Serums should be your most expensive product. Formulated with active ingredients that bring antioxidants to the skin and restore cell growth. They also act as a brightening treatment or anti-aging prevention.
4. Exfoliate: It is important to exfoliate with acids to help keeping your skin clean and fresh. Having a toner with antioxidants, acid, and hydrants is the best way to go.
Glycolic acid helps decrease aging process, skin resurfacing and evens out skin tone. Our Coconut Refresher hydrating mist is formulated with glycolic, glycerin, Vitamin A,B3, B5, C and witch hazel.
Lactic acid: this is great for dehydrated and dry skin.
Salicylic acid is great for acne and spots. Our Rose Garden toners are amazing as they have both hydrating properties, antioxidants, and acids. Our toners also can be carried in your bag and spritzed onto your face throughout the day. You can use it after cleansing, under moisturizer, under/ over makeup, in the airplane, car, work desk, etc. Or when it's hot when it's cold, wherever and whenever.
5. Facial oil: if you don’t use one, now is the time to get to it. They are targeted to work with your natural oils and keep your skin balanced. Our facial oil is best for all skin types as it has oils that compliment and target different skin types. They smooth and reduce scarring as well as rejuvenate your skin complexion.
6. SPF: first and foremost, do not use a SPF in place of a moisturizer. SPF is formulated to protect your skin against UV rays only. UV rays damage your skins elasticity and UVB rays cause skin damage and alter the structure of cells which can lead to skin cancer. You need to wear it all year round. Even on cloudy days you are still exposed to UV rays. To prevent sun spots and saggy skin in the future use SPF ASAP!
7. Face Mask: These are great additions to any skincare routine to target specific skin care concerns. Masks can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of pores. We have Detox mask with turmeric and Exfoliating mask with glycolic and lactic acid.
